Description

Freeman LCV-20 Drake Corvette One of a new generation of warships developed by the Free Systems Alliance in the wake of their war for independence from the North American Union, the Drake was based off of the success of the SF-101 Vindicator. Following a similar design principle of a heavily-armoured hull built around a phenomenally powerful weapon, the Drake was laid from the keel-up around an Ahrugan heavy naval AP lancer cannon. The hull was likewise designed to be resilient, but even the designers had no concept of how well they would succeed in that arena.
In subsequent combat encounters against everyone from the Naradi to the Kraegarym, the Drake has proven itself to be the toughest corvette design ever developed, rivalling frigates for durability. Originally designed as an ENWO platform for infiltration purposes, the Drake is able to gain orbital superiority through stealth and surprise, a feat usually well outside the capabilities of a corvette. Squadrons of Drakes jump in at the fringe of a system, cloak, work their way to the target world over hours or even days, and then neutralize and replace the orbital defense platform network.
Even more impressive is the ability to do this without anyone being the wiser. Using the onboard ENWO gear and a doppleganger unit, each Drake will slip up to the platform, silence it, board and disable it, and then appear to visual checks and scanners to BE the platform. Needless to say, this results in a nasty surprise for the enemy when the main fleet arrives and the defense grid starts shooting its own side up.
Additionally, as was discovered at the Battle of Corellius, squadrons of Drakes can easily overwhelm destroyer and frigate class vessels. The offensive punch is what makes these relatively small (260' long) vessels so deadly. The core spinal mount AP lancer is devastating enough, but the Drake also sports two spinal mount medium APPCs in the engine nacelles, two medium quad-barrel APPC turrets (1 dorsal, 1 ventral), six medium AP lancer turrets (2 port, 2 starboard, and 2 aft, one on the rear of each nacelle), and tremendous missile firepower.
Two 40-shot 10-volley SRM batteries (400 missiles each), two 40-shot 10-volley LRM batteries (400 missiles each), six 10-shot 6-volley SSM batteries (60 missiles each), and two 10-shot 2-volley ASM silos (20 missiles each) make the Drake a devastating- albeit expensive to reload- ship killer.
The Drake also sports a large amount of ENWO gear, including sensor and signal jammers, signal jackers, a top-notch doppleganger unit, signature, scanner and IFF spoofers, a cloaking field, signature dampeners and an omnidrectional disruptor bank for disabling defense platforms at close range. Between this gear and the firepower, the eighteen point-defense pop-up turrets are almost an afterthought.

So those ships are like, latched on to the corvette somehow?
