Looking good so far. Curious as to what a dedicated carrier would look like though, lol.

Terrans by and large don't use them, as they are big, honking bullseyes, and the nature of naval warfare (well, space-based naval warfare, anyway) is vastly different in the 24th century. Firepower, defenses and theater matter a great deal, and fighters generally can't carry enough punch to do significant damage to a capital ship. Battleships and other capital ships often carry many squadrons of fighters and other small craft, but have the massive offensive firepower and thick hides to be deadly combatants on their own. Dedicated carriers are based around a naval warfare principle of using fighters and small craft as force-multipliers, but against warships this is a difficult prospect. Point defense turrets erase fighters when they get too close, as do interceptors and corvettes. Add to that the ENWO (Electronic and Network Warfare Operations) equipment such as disruptor fields (omnidirectional electron arrestor and photon distortion fields that fry electronics systems) make getting near a warship a dicey proposition for a fighter.

That being said, the Orion Imperial Navy utilizes a type of fighter-bomber designed to carry ASMs (Anti-Ship Missiles, the second most powerful missile in naval arsenals that carries a quarter-ton of antimatter (roughly 10 gigatons), externally. These fighters are carried in vast quantities (20 8-fighter-bomber squadrons) along with an additional defensive flight of conventional squadrons (10 12-fighter squadrons) in a dedicated carrier named the Phalanx. This carrier is huge (3km in length) and is actually classed as a heavy battleship or light dreadnought, and carries over 400 fighters and 200 small craft, including 50 corvettes. The Sarza are less advanced (albeit not by much) than Terran standard, and still use a swarm-tactic of fighters launched from a dedicated assault carrier. These light, fast ships only carry a few squadrons each, but they are hard to hit and travel with escorts. The Namaran are the least advanced of the space-faring races, but they can achieve impressive victories with their fighters. As a result, they have developed a fast-attack carrier to bring those fighters to the fore and deploy them.

Thanks very much!:D Its Micron .005 pens and Prismacolor and Tria markers. Mostly grays scale in Warm, Cool and French, and white paint pen and white Prismacolor pencil for highlights. The paper is called "Desert Storm" from a local paper supplier, its card stock thick so heavy marker use will not make it all wavy afterwards:D

Ahh :D Micron haha my favorites. I'll have to check out that paper! I use textured background like that on my art, but almost always add it in digitally. I've always wanted to draw on actual textured paper.

Keep up the great work man!

The ship is a Kopis-class battleship from Spartan Group, the largest mercenary corporation in the human sphere. It's from the Dark Nova role-playing game :)
