Description

Pinnacle Mk 20 Boarding Armor
Heavy boarding armor is a rarity due to the general desire for maneuverability and CQB effectiveness in the oft-tight corridors and airlocks of a vessel. Pinnacke Armor Technologies was approached by Carter Langford, the infamous Freeman privateer, about developing a form of high-maneuverability HBA with integrated grav thrusters. The idea sparked the development of a new form of boarding armor designed for assaults on heavily fortified orbitals and vessels such as those used by pirates and alien marauders.
In order to develop armor that maintained maneuverability without compromising durability, Pinnacle reached back into the ancient past of their firm’s history. Inspired by one of the first forms of armor they ever built in the pre-Fall era, engineers at Pinnacle developed the Mk 20 to use segmented and overlapping plates in areas normally covered by solid ones. This later carried over into their mil-spec designs as well, with the Mk 20 being the initial test platform. Aside from the balance of protection and maneuverability in CQB environments, another aspect of the Mk 20 that makes it stand out is the gravitic thrusters. These back-mounted propulsion units allow the operator to board a target vessel without the need for ship-to-ship contact or breaching modules. He can simply jet over to the target vessel, bypass the encryption lockouts on a maintenance airlock (or blow it with any number of charges or nanite “critter bombs”), and slip inside while their mother vessel pounds the snot out of other areas of the vessel to distract it.
Additional control thrusters in the calves and arms allow for agility and maneuvering similar to that of the CI-557.
The Mk 20 is a potent CQB armor suit, designed to allow the operator to carry substantial defensive and offensive capacity in a tight package. The armor comes standard with a grenade dispenser built into the left shoulder, and has maglock points for an ablative shield on both forearms (shield not included).
