While remotely-operated drones have proven to be obsolete due to advances in ENWO (Electronic and Network Warfare Operations), semi-sentient AI-driven robots still have a place on the battlefield as a force multiplier. While not as cunning or adaptable as a meat-body soldier, they make excellent front line battlefield combatants and garrison/force protection units.

Very good design. But what is that under his right arm? A rail gun? And what is that on his left shoulder?

Those are both heavier energy weapons, I will get Breandan (Dark Nova Author) over and explain the weapons out load on this unit...

Not to disagree with Jeff, but it's not THAT powerful. Here's the writeup from the book, explaining the weapons-

Description: MEI once again proves it has earned the top-slot in robotics with the Wolfhound combat robot. Designed to operate as a front-line and force protection unit, the Wolfhound has the most advanced AI legally allowed. This gives it excellent self-motivation and abstract judgment capacities, allowing these units to operate in the field with minimal supervision.
The Wolfhound is not as adaptable or capable of independent reasoning and problem-solving abilities as a meat-body soldier, but it stands out as head of the class compared to other robots. This is due to a larger CPU allowing for a more intelligent AI (comparable to a class II able to handle up to an Emotive personality) placed in the center chest. While still vulnerable to head-shots, which will destroy the primary sensor node, the CPU is one of the hardest parts of the ‘bot to kill. In addition to its built-in weaponry, the Wolfhound can also carry any small arm or heavy weapon, including those designed for powered armor. While it can use external hand-held vibroblades, it is far more effective with the built-in models.

That thing on it shoulder can blow a hole in the side of a starship... and put out enough power to give most shields a hard time, so yeah it could take out a tank...

I like the multi-camera helmet. It looks very sci-fi-y.
