The Namaran are a near-human race who had late 21st century tech until recently, when they were invaded on two separate occassions. After winning brutal guerrilla wars of attrition against technologically superior foes, they reverse-engineered the captured technology. They still lag behind in many ways, being 50-100 years behind in most cases, but they purchased cutting-edge Terran weapons technology and Teek gravitic engines. This makes their vessels primitive, but effective.
While physically weaker and not as tough as humans- being a beautiful, graceful and lithe people barely breaking the 5' mark- they are phenomenally agile, second only to the arboreal Kyaren. Unlike the Kyaren, however, Namaran are far more disciplined and have comparable hand-eye coordination that allows them to be frighteningly deadly pilots. With the addition of inertial dampeners to their vessels, Namaran pilots can pull maneuvers in their fighters that would be suicidal to just about anyone else. Thus, while they do have carriers and capital ships, it is in these fighters that they are deadliest
