Garoudan 'Rakaht' Frigate

Description

The Garoudan Rragghkaht (“Swift Little Hunter”, Anglicized as “Rakaht”) frigate is the most common warship of both the Garouja and the exiled Angji fleets. As with most Garoudan designs, the Rakaht is designed to be a fast-hitting agile ship with maximized firepower. Many Rakaht-class frigates among the Angji fleet have become the backbone of the Free Systems Alliance navy, and have benefitted from the more advanced human armour and weapons technology.
The division among the Garoudan people between the Garouja and the Angji goes deeper than a religious schism. After the holy war and the purging of the Angji, forcing the survivors into exile in Ahrugan and Freemen space, the fanatical Garouja became stagnate, ritualizing their current technology and culture as sacred due to their victory of their more level-headed rivals. This has resulted in their ships not having advanced in the forty years since the end of the war.
The Angji, on the other hand, are enlightened in more ways than the religious ones. Just as their theology was able to accept non-Garoudans as equals- fellow hunters birthed by other Great Mothers who merely have a different form than their own- they are also able to accept advancements in technology. The Rakaht frigate above is a Freeman naval version, crewed by Garoudans, but sporting more advanced Terran weaponry and armour. Replacing the older PPCs with APPCs and AP lancers, and mounting a coaxial MAC gun, all without sacrificing maneuverability and speed, the Angji Rakaht is a deadly warship for its size.
The Garouja and Angji Rakaht-class frigates have the same number of weapons and their layout internally is identical, however the weapon types differ between the two. Garouja Rakahts have six spinal-mount heavy PPCs, four heavy PPC turrets, twenty medium PPC turrets, six Talon missile batteries with a total payload of 720 missiles, and sixty point-defense turrets across the whole of the hull. Angji Rakahts have two APPC spinal mounts, two AP lancer spinal mounts, two MAC gun spinal mounts, four APPC turrets, twenty medium APPC turrets, the six Talon missile batteries, but converted to carry 720 Terran LRMs, and sixty Terran standard point-defense turrets.
Garoudan armor plating is thick, but conventional carbon nano-mesh battleplate with energy-dispersing capabilities layered with compressed Duridium (a metal native to the Garoudan homeworld with a density and hardness comparable to synthetic armour metals used by Terran ships) battleplate. Shields are almost an afterthought, being weaker than some privateer vessels. Angji Rakahts, by comparison, have been completely re-skinned in Terran and Ahrugan armour materials. Atomically-bonded metallic hydrogen and carbon battleplate layers are bonded together with turinium interweave, and supported by tenser-field structural stabilizers to minimize energy weapon burn-through. Shields are the same triple-layered deflector shields as those used aboard Freemen warships.
Garoudan warships are easy to separate between the Garouja and Angji, thankfully. The ritualistic and fanatical Garouja could never conceive of being deceitful and disguising their vessels as an Angji warship, and continue to maintain the tiger-stripe red and black paint scheme with religious script proclaiming the greatness of the sacred Hunt and the position of the Garouja as the universe’s supreme predators along the hull. Angji warships, by comparison, have a simple red-and-grey paint scheme more akin to those of Terran vessels, though some have adopted the Freemen propensity for nose-art, albeit less-provocative than the scantily-clad women the humans often prefer.

Love the background for all your ships! This hold so much detail on why it's like this. Keep up the great work!
